Int he next two weeks I'm planning to buy a new hard disk but i don't know which one I should choose between IBM 120 gxp and the new caviar model with 8 mb buffer of W.D.I was going for the IBM brand but after I read somewhere that the gxp series turns out to be a little problematic I fell into a dillema. If anyone knows anything about the gxp series or about which of the two has a better perfomance and durability please respond. Thanks ^_^

Another WD vote here. Just bought two of them (800JB) for my new machine. Im planning to use them in RAID 0. Compared to the IBM GXP they are much less noisy. Both when idle and especially when seeking. They also run cooler. Regarding IBM deskstar: I just lost a 60GXP (The drive motor just suddenly stopped spinning). As far as I knew, only the 75GXP series was the problematic ones, but after my own crash I definitely avoid anything from IBM.

Wd for sure, especially at the present time. I still have a 5 year old 30Gb WD300ab drive still going strong, it has been abused, used in 3 systems and chugs along nicely!
