Ralink wireless adapter can't find any networks besides my own

Hi, for some odd reason a few months ago my wireless adapter gave out. Right now it can only find my router that is right next to the desktop so I know the problem is not the proximity of the router. The signal only shows 2 bars and is very slow. Sometimes it will disconnect out of nowhere. I try to use the network troubleshooter but it always tells me to check on the router. I know it is not the router because all of my other devices connect to it with no problem.

The router is a netgear wndr3700. The wireless adapter is a Ralkink 802.11. The adapter shows up in device manager.

Any help is much appreciated. I'm just so annoyed by having to use multiple ethernet cables. Thanks.
