Missing Network Controller Dell Dimension

Having just solved the missing network controller on my Dell Inspiron laptop I thought I would try the old Dell dimension 455-0 desktop I have. It too is missing the network controller, I can access web through wireless usb but not though cable or wireless. I have the disc but I can't install from it as I get message saying it is outdated. Tried Intel but the download ends prematurely and so doesnt work. It is annoying me and any help would be appreciated.
