set up
G4 titanium laptop running osx 10.3
M-audio-firewire 410 input interface
storage to Iomaga ext usb 80 gig disk drive
feild desk, behringer 3242
mics
neumann 103centered between and two 184's in x-y config

back-up to minidisc

I am sure I made a beginners mistake by setting my m-audio in the rack
in the space directly above a wireless(shure ud-4/beta 87a) and my hard
disc next to it
with the computer on top of the road case that held the wireless
in the center of the table was the mixer, feeding the m-audio, minidisc
and feild pa
on the far side of the table was the minidisc

hook up from mixer(b-mix) to m-audio was unbalanced(the m-audios input
are ts unbalanced )

and from a pair of prefade auxes via unbalanced t/s to rca to minidisc

my recording done through the m-audio is all distorted(no clipping) and
fuzzy sounds like rf interference or some thing
completely unusable, my tech told me he could not hear the artifacts and
distortion in the head phones during recording

I doubt he tried the m-audio headphone jacks but defered to the
headphone out on the 3242

my minidiscs are absoultly perfect,thankfully!!!

I am wonering if anyone can venture a guess as to where the interference
leaked into the hard disk recording as this project would have been much
simpler if i did not have to retransfer the recordings from my back up
minidiscs
thank you in advance
George
