First of all - maybe You know website(s) with test/comparaison of
different platforms(AMD/Intel) for proffesional digital audio
recording/generating appliance?
I wouldn't like to ask here whether AMD or Intel but... it is
confirmed that Intel platform is more stable than AMD(because of
native chipset on mainboard), however last AMD CPUs are most powerful
and in better power to price ratio than Intel. So I have a dilema - I
do not do huge multitrack recordings, more important for me is CPU
power because I use lots of softsynth instances in projects(however I
also use softsamplers which require quick RAM access, not to mention
the size of memory) so AMD could be better here but there are several
problems with stability/performance of nforce/nforce2 chipsets, not to
mention VIA chipsets.
AMD and you're fine I run 3000+ 's all day and night. You're right excellent
price to performance ratio. Don't even own Intel puters anymore.
