Does anyone else own this CDRW? I bought it thinking Sony would be a good name, but the B's Recorder gold software is very poor and doesn't allow a lot of options. I have a copy of Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 but much to my dismay, it doesn't seem to recognize this drive, even though it says it will on roxio website.

My basic problems are : many poor burns, can't seem to get the b's recorder software to just write without testing first, and can't get it to be recognized by ez cd creator.

Can anyone help me?

I also recommend Nero as do most of us in this forum.

I was a big Sony fan for years and still like their monitors but basically Sony sucks! You may have a media compatability problem. While I prefer Nero for strange options I have never had a problem with RoxEZCD for normal use. If you are coping unprotected disks your software should be fine. Use clonyxxl (free) to determine if you are dealing with a copy protected disk and if so use Nero or clonecd. Check <A HREF="http://www.cdrinfo.com" target="_new">http://www.cdrinfo.com&lt;/A> or <A HREF="http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles/Specific.asp?A..." target="_new">http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Articles/Specific.asp?A...;/A> to see if the Sony has trouble with certain media or if certain media works better. I personally prefer the Verbatium disks. I have not made a coaster since switching to that brand. Well I did make some coasters but that was trying to copy a protected disk not a media failure. Clonecd took care of that little problem asap. Next time you buy a drive check out Lite On. Their drives can read and write raw dao. They are some of the fastest drives and they are dirt cheep! I gave under $70 delivered for a 40/12/48 that will do 48/12/48 pcav with a firmware upate. Almost everybody around here swares by LO including myself. I like my TDK also but it cost twice as much and is not supported as well. The TDK is basically the same drive but lacks some features because TDK has not updated the firmware. The problem with the Roxio software may be that you don't have a "full" version. A lot of times the version of burning software that ships with a drive only works with that drive. This is know as an OEM version and that may be your problem there.
