If it's a Verizon or AllTel phone it should be unlocked already.

Do a GOOGLE search for Programming a StarTac or Programming a Motorola, tons
of places. If you cant figure it out, Holler in this thread again. Even if a
7868 is locked, you can enter programming mode.

Telus?! OMG...that is going to be difficult. I used Telus. Their
phones are definately locked, at least the newer ones, don't know
about StarTACs since that goes back 2 or more years. Their CSRs do not
give out the MSL (master service lock) code...I tried. Now, Motorola
service centers may be able to help
http://www.motorola.ca/asp/english/pcs/service.asp but I have never
attempted that route.

Are we talking a SUBSIDY LOCK here, or we talking a 4 digit lock code or 6
Digit Security code? As was earlier stated Verizon and Alltel dont even deal
with subsidy it. If they have a subsidy code in place, your gonna have to go
to an authorized service center. Even PST cant read a subsidy code.
security code/

It's a 6 digit lock code.. . so I'll have to take it in somewhere to get
reprogrammed to get unlocked huh?

Yes, and I might add the ESN can also be found
1. on the UPC sticker on the side of the box if you still have that
around
2. from the phone by pressing on the middle button on the left side ->
scroll down to Main Menu -> press the middle button to select it ->
scroll down to Phone Options -> press the middle button to select it
-> scroll down to Phone Info -> press the middle button to select it
-> you should see Serial Num.
The serial number you see using method 2 is the hexidecimal version,
usually 8 characters in length that inlcudes and combination of
numbers and the letters A to F. (Hex and decmial version of the ESN
are identical numbers once converted from one form to the other.)
