I got a bunch of new toys for my computer!

The first toy is a new graphics card.
I got a BBA Radeon 9800 XT.
The next toy is a BBA TV Wonder Pro. I'm using this for video capture.
The next toy is a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS.
And the last toy is a new monitor. I got a Samsung SyncMster 173T TFT LCD.
My next purchase will be better speakers.

Why two cards? Couldn't you get a AIW?

Reply to Flamethrower205

I dunno why get a 9800XT . They're rip-offs if anything.
Shoulda just waited for the X800 XT while you were at it, over twice stronger and woulda cost you the same. IMO return it and wait a bit more.

Or get an AIW like DH said.

BTW for someone who complains about his work, I'd say you got some damn fine load to spend there! I wish I could buy all that!

aiw isnt as good as the xt in games,

w/ the two (actually three) 9800 i had the sapphire was the best then the BBA, then the AIW.

dont get me wrong they are all great cards but you will see better fps with the regular xt.

Last I checked the 9700 PRO AIW was as strong as its regular counterpart. Any link where they show the new XT no longer using that better method?

Well, mostly how you often claimed to detest most of your daily things most of the time. Actually, I got more the impression that you have a low paying job from what you said, but it seemed I was wrong. Anyways, no matter.

EDIT: I noticed I tried to say something more assertively than in assumption. Corrected the phrase.

Eden my good man , i really do think you owe zpyrd an appology . Your always first of to tell some one that they misspelled something , or comment on what they say , think or do . In working i have noticed that the person who trys to impress you that they are so smart or so talented is always the one that has no self confidence , and is trying to bring other people down so that they look better . Thats what i like about Big Mac on here , he gets his point across respectfully without trying to damage the other person .
I know you will get mad at me but this is my opinion . zpyrd i do not think gave a impression that he was in a low paying job or that he was poor ( financially ) . He is married with children so his resorces my not be as great as a single person in the same catagory . He seems to be doing fine and doing it on his own ( no help from others ), doing it a lot better then me for example . He is also a fine fellow , as he likes hooters , which i also do . He has my respect and heck i was gonna try borrowing some money from him .
My 2 cents .

Dude, I didn't try to imply I knew Zpyrd's life. I said what I said because I was remembering what he'd say about his daily job and stuff. If I was wrong, fine, I am, but in no way did I attempt to lower him. I was actually impressed by his spending and happy to see that, since I had the impression from his past posts that he wasn't getting a good break from his work. I am arguably wrong it seems. But apologize? I don't think so Mike, I never intended or meant to lower Zpyrd in any way.

The days where I would actually use on FRIENDS ways to lower them to look smarter are over. That was the early teen days and I am glad I took a consciousness hit 2 years ago.

BTW, I point out spelling mistakes as a joke, I sure hope you knew that man. Pointing it out seriously is actually very low and shows you are resorting to weak tactics in a debate to lower someone.
Don't refer to my dispute with Auburn on his post as an example, because it is far from spelling mistakes. And I don't tell someone what they say, I tell them what I remember or recall them saying and usually say "I thought you said..." or "Didn't you say once that...".

No I am not mad, but I am hoping you will know you had false assumptions about me on this and that you would admit it. If you truly do see something wrong, then point it out again or clarify it more, maybe I didn't notice it.

Errr... I dunno why continue a job just for the money if you don't like it. IMO you should take what you enjoy, not what you will whine about each day just for the money. To me that's wasting your life more than anything. Wasting 8 hours each day bored or demotivated.
Just my opinion though.

You're still 17, right? How many fulltime jobs have you had? Have you ever been in a fulltime job you didn't like, but couldn't find another decent job to switch to in whatever crummy town you live? Have you ever done the job search thing so long, unsuccessfully, that you just gave up? It happens. That's where I'm at right now, Eden.

I agree that one should have a job they enjoy. I couldn't agree more. But, finding a new job (that's the right job, not just settling for another one that will suck) ain't always as easy as just snapping your fingers.

Well, if you meant it that way, I cannot dispute the occasional hard times really.

My only part-time job experience I ever had wasn't really fun, but I did it through summer just for my grandpa since he tried his best to get me it. This summer I may end up at Radio Shack than say, more preferable places, but I think I'll go for it for some pocket money. That 1150$ I got from 2 years ago is becoming really strapped, despite the constant cash flow from birthdays, Xmas money presents, etc.

And I do remember you said you had a damn fine job back then. Hopefully you will find one that way and not stay there for many many more years.

Just one thing, what do you mean by

I was referring to a good, successful job search. One that ends up with you getting the right job for you, not just taking something else because it IS something else, when it may end up being just as bad or worse than where you're at now.

The job I had before this one rocked. This one sucks. I've found stuff here and there, but none of it was right. I'm not planning on getting one that sucks this bad again.

Yeah I definitely agree with you. I didn't think of that scenario and in fact it is indeed a not so rare one, now that I think about it. I guess I did initially mean in the end a bad job being the result of an unconscious job search. So if you consciously ended up in a bad environment but looked a lot and couldn't find any better, I can see where I didn't think of such scenario.

Hello

I haven't completely read all the responses in regard to my career. So I thought I would clear a few things up.

I am a skilled tradesman with multiple trade licenses.
I work as a shift engineer in a refrigeration plant.
I have had my current position for seven years and I like it very much. My personal income is significantly higher than the average dual income family.
I have been married for over ten years. I have two children. A seven year old daughter and a four year old son.
Like everyone I do have gripes about my job. But nothing so serious I would consider leaving my job.
For me personal computers are a hobby. I like assembling and troubleshooting pc's.
On average I spend about $5000.00 per year on personal computer hardware, software and accessories.
