Palm Vx suddenly stopped working!

My extremely reliable Palm Vx suddenly stopped working on Friday. I had been
carrying it in a front pants pocket briefly, then noticed it could not be
turned on. Thinking that maybe the unit had somehow completely discharged, I
left it in the cradle over the weekend, to find it in the same dead
condition Monday a.m.

I have tried various forms of hard and soft reset without success.

Any suggestions before I concede defeat and replace it with a color unit?
