[Solved] My desktop is dead, I was able to transfer files to a Hitachi Mobile P

My old laptop died but I was able to transfer files to Hitachi Touro harddrive. I am trying to load these files onto my new laptop (Sony VAIO) using Windows Transfer or manually. However, my old laptop did not have Windows Transfer, I did this manually.
Sony VAIO is locking up when I try to open the Hitachi backup files. Any suggestions? Thanks, Margie
