Hello,
I have heard form my friend that there was a program that would allow a normal cd-rom drive write onto CD-Roms with the need for the CD-Rewriter drive. I am wondering if that is ever or even possible to do or accomplish???? Would the laser on the CD-Writer be differant then the CD-Roms laser becuase i would think it would be to be able to write onto the cds.

heh.
the laser on a burner is considerably different/more powerful/better controlled than that of just a cd-rom drive, and has alot of additional hardware onboard to manage the burn process.

im afraid your friend is "speaking out his arse"

just get a cd-rw drive... they arnt that expensive, and if you really are strapped for money get something like a 12 speed burner. may be slow but it still does the job
