Hi

Since yesterday a programme called "FastFown" has worked it's way into my system.

I have deleted it every way i can see possible'but since then

At bootup a small window appears for literally a blink of an eye (minor annoyance)

And at shutdown a window appears saying "End task html package" in the blue toolbar at the top.(major annoyance)

In the window it has a progress bar and asking if you wanna end now etc etc or save whatever the hells happening.

I just wanna straight boot up and a nice clean shutdown.

Help.

Thanx

I've never heard of this program, nor does anything come up on an advanced search, with several engines. Are you sure that you are spelling this correctly?

Perhaps this <A HREF="http://www.cexx.org/adware.htm" target="_new">page</A> might be of some use.

I just got the same thing on my system. Mine is called "FastDown". It started yesterday... Also, every 15 minutes or so, I get a porn pop-up. I've seached everywhere and can't find anything.

Yeah. That's a respectable attribute (honesty).

I don't know what fs2002 is. But, it might be that your Internet Options aren't set securely. I wish I could help you on what are the best, but to be honest with you, I don't really know. Right now, this is what mine are set to: <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/btvillarin/Articles/xpguide3.h..." target="_new">Link</A>

I'm glad you fixed it, though.

Try this, delete all the porn cookies and see if that annoying bug goes away with porn pop-ups. It may be a simply cookie, but make sure you don't kill the cookies to your necessary websites. This is the safest thing I can tell you to do because I never heard of a program as you decribed. If this doesn't rid it, then it is hiding somewhere else, possibly registry. Hope you find it!

I think he was talking about his MS Flight Similator 2002.

I remember reading something about those porn popups...i'll try to find the link.

The only thing I've found called FastDown is a download manager. Here's the <A HREF="http://www.simtel.net/pub/pd/56670.html" target="_new">link</A>.

If this isn't it, then maybe the darned thing is some kind of Active X control, accidently installed in the browser to download porn from a specific website? I've seen people complaining about things like this happening before, such as with Comet Cursor. They had clicked the window that offered to install the program before they realized it.

I'd look in the Windows\Downloaded Program Files folder, and remove anything that isn't needed. You can right-click on these files, choose properties, and find out what they are for. There's normally a URL included on the General tab.

I just saw something similar on the <A HREF="http://tour.cybererotica.com/logurl/loadURL/free:index...." target="_new">CyberErotica</A> site, while I was out searching. Clicking the link for a free adult web browser brought up a window to install an Active X control from TBI, Inc.

Not me, no thanks. I get my porn from banner-free sites!

Obviously, you've got to be careful these days where you stick your cursor.

Well, i counldn't find that link, but it was about ads (popup, under popup, etc...). I do remember that it mentioned something about ActiveX controls or Java scripts and it has to do with your internet security settings.
