Bad or Wrong Memory Burn MB

Hi,

Anyone know if it is possible (or even experienced) whether
the wrong memory or bad memory can cause a motherboard to
burn up.

Testing a machine that has appears to have a burned mb and
I just looking for reasons. Power Supply appears to test ok
(300Watt) as far a voltage.

I have a board here which I got for free because one RAM slot was burned. The cause? Somebody put it in backwards, and forced it in hard enough to make a connection, even with the key blocking it!
