windows lock up

I have read other questions on this problem but no solution has been given, I have a msi turbo limited edition motherboard and athlon 1.333 chip. i,m running windows 98. I have 256 memory in my system running ok. when i try to put in anothor stick of 256 windows wont load and locks up.
take it out and its fine again. ive tried both sticks in all slots on ther own with no problems, put them in together an wham, windows lock up. i even took the new one back and got a different brand, exactly the same. help!

I was looking at your M/B mfg website, and saw a bunch of BIOS updates there <A HREF="http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=97&NAME=MS-6330" target="_new">MSI</A> I don't know if that is the problem but, if I were you I'd contact tech support and ask their advice as well as asking about recommended BIOS updates.
