Should I abandon favorit music artist due to fam?

Hello,

I am and have been a fan for quite some time of the music artist Enigma (Michael Cretu). My mom and 3 sisters are very fond of his "mood" music as well but I recently read a biography on Michael Cretu and found out something that I didn't mind but when I told my family of it they stopped listening to the music and look down on me for continuing to listen to it.

You see Michael Cretu is an athiest and feels "there is no place for organized religion in today's society. Destiny is much more powerful than religion."

No problem, Elton John is gay but I don't stop listening to his catch music as a result. Bottom line, Cretu's music along with his wife Sandra and others vocals are beautiful and I'm not going to stop listening to music just because of his way of life.

My EXTREMELY Catholic family thinks otherwise and when we talk about it, they claim that music is an expression of an artists feelings and desires; it is poetry, therefore supporting Cretu's music supports what he stands for...a life without our Lord.

Come on now, I know I'm the blacksheep of the family but don't look down on me for listening to Enigma. I am not an athiest and listening to Enigma's music isn't converting me or anything so what the heck?

What would you do? Would you switch out the Enigma CD in your car when picking up your sister in an effort not to offend her? Would you stop wearing Enigma t-shirts when with family? What a pain?

Back to topic though, no, I would not compromise my taste to anyone's opinions.
My family is religious, but the grandparents are the most, and even then, no one has ever tried to stop us from listening to what we want.

For example, I like Alexisonfire but they're an Emo Core band, so the singer screams badly. My mom gets disturbed as hell when she hears it and makes me shut it. However, when I play it and she enters the room, I never stop it. It's my right to listen to it, right?
She DOES think it corrupts the mind to listen to screaming music like that, but a few arguments from me and she backs off.

You will have to argument them. IMO it's the only way to prove to them that it does not matter what others are, as long as you are and stay yourself.

Tell em it doesn't make you any less of a person for listening to his music. They are being unChristian in not accepting.

Give them a choice between two bands to listen to. Slayer or Enigma.

Something tells me Enigma will be the preferred selection.
