Is this true? And would it be better than the regular Corsair memory with the black heat spreaders?

Another question not related to the subject but doesn't hurt to ask anyways..
Which type of DDR SDRAM is it best to get? I mean the fastest DDR SRAM is PC2700 which is under JDEC values but on the other hand there is already PC3200...
And I'm guessing it's actually PC2700 but overcloced to that frequency...
So what should I get?

I have the Plat series memory now, as far as I know it is true PC3200 and not o/c pc2700. I will never get it to run at its max right now, I will be able to in the future I hope. All it means for me is I have a stick of ram that I know will not be the bottle neck in my system and will handle almost any setting I can throw at it.

Best cheapest value is Crucial pc2700 and you will be going well to stop that, best fastest is Corsair Pc3200 then Muskin. This my own opinion and I am sure others will say different.

Hmm. alright. Well doesn't VIA have the P4B400? Wasn't that suppose to support PC3200? So what does it mean when it says "PC3200 not defined by JDEC"?

Everyone is having problems trying to get the VIA P4X400 chipset to recognize DDR 400. I am just waiting for the SiS-648 to come out. This chipset does support DDR 400. Abit has a board out now called the SR7-8X. Asus is coming out with the P4S8X later this month and Soyo is coming out with the P4S-648 Dragon Ultra next month. These mobo's should have no problem with DDR 400 like the Via chipset does. I don't really know why the Via chipset doesn't recognize DDR 400 though, its most likely their Bios or something.

I am also going with Corsair, I was going to go with PC-3000 because the 3200 is just overclocked, but corsair now has PC-3200 that runs at a CAS latency of 2.0 without overclocking, so i will just wait until this arrives at newegg and buy it.

If you're going Intel, is there any better combo than Soyo/DDR Corsair? I've got a board on the SiS 645 chipset and it's wonderful. Of course, i think this is one of the most expensive routes to go, but eh... i'll pay for quality and reliability (i DID say i've got an Intel chip, right? :)).

Athlons and Pentiums are just melted rock. Who’s rock is better? Who cares, let’s play some games

Really? Well I'm a not a VIA fan but I love SIS.. Yeah I wonder how the SIS R658 will be? The first chipset that supports Dual Channel Rambus from SIS..
Yeah I've seen Soyo's board, looks pretty cool but the board color won't affect performance..

Yeah the PC3200 from Corsair is pretty expensive though.. But at CAS 2 I'd say it's worthwile.

Cool, so hopefully getting a sis chipset isn't a bad idea. The main reason im waiting for the 648 is because of the AGP 8x for the Radeon im getting and the DDR 400 which performs near PC-1066 standards. It is expensive, but it is still cheaper than RD-RAM and with great overclockability. The only thing im worried about is that there is not even a heatsink on the chipset (at least on the picture i saw in a magazine), is there a way to just buy a heatsink and put it on the chipset?
