hl2 connection lost error :((((((

i can not play hl2.the hl2.exe does not work and when i try launcher.exe it
opens the game but in 1-2 min. it returns to windows and says ''connection
to steam server lost''.i was playing this game but after format i
couldn't.i have no steam to turn it offline mode.what can i do?is there any
patch to play offline(i tried one but didn't work).please help me!i am

That will be your problem then, HL2 is started by Steam.exe.
