Hi,

I was putting my new computer together, and the only problem that I have is with my RAM. When I turn the computer on my motherboard "MSI KT3 Ultra" has diagnostic LED and those tell me that the RAM is not working properly. I have tried everything and the only way I can get it to work is by clearing the CMOS by the use of jumpers. That way I can get into the bios. Once I change the settings of the RAM timing it works for a couple of minutes, but after a couple of hours when I turn the computer back on it goes back with the same problem. What would you suggest?

What does CMOS mean?

Thanks for all your help!

Relax the settings on your memory. Go with the default and run it for a while to see how it reacts. Then try adjusting one of the settings and run it for a while and so on.

CMOS = Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. In essence it's a low power consumption memory chip, with a battery. CMOS keeps the settings and config of your BIOS every time you restart. Linked to the Real Time Clock, if the battery fails, it reverts to default and you need to replace the battery.

You might have bad quality RAM.
