How to prevent wifi from disconnecting from laptop every 15-30 minutes

Wifi says connection is available and that it is full strength yet every 15-30 minutes it disconnects and a box pops up saying click to reconnect, yet it will not reconnect.... I have to totally reboot the computer to get back on wifi and I lose whatever I have done are am in the middle of. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or what..... please help meeeeeeee. Thank you very much.
