First of all I would like to say I have been vising this site and valuing your opinions for awhile now. I will be building a new system and would like it fairly high end. I have bought some parts and am deciding on others. I may want to overclock it in the future and it would be for gaming and graphics.
I just picked up two sticks of 256mb pny optima ddr 2100 memory because of the price which will be about $88 after rebates. I thought this was a good deal because it is Samsung on Samsung. ( chips are K4H280838C-TCBO). I am now wondering if I should return them and wait for a good price for DDR 2700 which is what I was originally planning on getting.
I am planning on buying a pentium 4 2.0 processor and maybe an abit IT7 motherboard. I am still open minded on the above items. I would very much apprecitate any imput you can give me on the 2100 memory that I purchased, and on the processor and memory if you would like. Thanks alot
Your best performance will come with the use of DDR400 memory, aka PC3200. You can get 256MB for $80 at newegg. Using an Intel chipset, that gives you 177MHz (DDR354) speed at the 3:4 FSB/RAM ratio with a bus speed of 133MHz, and the full DDR400 speed at a bus speed of 150MHz.
