Never seen this before, probably cause I'm young...but: Voice talent sent
me voice tracks, when I look at the wave form there's much more amplitude
ABOVE the zero line than below. I usually get files from folks where it's
equal above and below zero line. He said it's his TC electronics Gold
channel that causes this to happen. Yes I'm a babe in the woods, so have at
me..but can anyone give me a helpful answer? Is this a problem? What causes
it? Help!

There could be a DC offset, but more likely you're just seeing
non-symmetry typical of the male voice. How would he know what his
Gold Channel is doing, anyway?

Mike, Thanks. He says he doesn't get this from going direct into Sound forge
from another preamp. It's only when using (I can tell there's compression)
Gold channel. He's may not be reporting it accurately. So nothing to worry
about. Thanks.

Not real common with voices, but quite common
with certain instruments. Trumpets tend to have pretty assymetrical waveforms,
more below than above the zero line. Some bowed strings also. And percussion is
all over the map.
