I am preparing to buy a mixer, mainly for home mixing and fun,
maybe some private parties. I browsed through web for mixers
with built-in effect processor, and found that this Gemini FX-7000
is just what I need. But I can't find any good costumers reviews,
so if someone from here can tell me something more about this
mixer, or maybe recommend me some other mixer.
What I expect of an mixer? 3 channels and effect processor.

It's a cheap DJ mixer - is that what you want ? Don't expect anything
special of it.

Doesn't really belong in a pro newsgroup.

I know it is cheap, but I don't have much money. So what if it is cheap?
Does it really means that it is bad? I will not use it on hi-fi equipment,
just to connect it with my PC and use it in mixing programs, I don't really
have decks.

I was trying to find best group for this question... What would be
alternative?

It could be inappropriate, and that's bad.

Just what is is that you want to do? Where do the inputs come from?
Where do the outputs go? What are the output levels of your sources?
What's the input sensitivity of your mix destination? What kind of
connectors (will you need adapters or specially wired cables?)?

Many things determine how appropriate this is for your application.

Your dealer.

I like mixing with my mp3 collection. I use programs like DeeJaysystem &
Traktor. I have 2 soundcards, and they are my inputs. They are not
expensive cards, I will even say cheap.
Output is some old Pioneer amplifier connected to speakers (KEF5 150W).

So as you see, with that hardware, I really don't need any expensive or
hi-quality mixer. I just want to mix music, and to experiment with effect
processor. I don't know if I will hear a difference (on my sound system)
between hitech mixer and let's say Gemini.

Yes, but I don't know are they trustworthy. I aked one delar who sells
mainly
Reloop products for opinion, and he just talked about how good Reloop
is and how I shoud buy it.
I really wanted to hear reviews from "real" people.

The gemini will work for you, it is not very rugged and if you move
into turntables you will need better but for the above application,
house arties, making personal mix cd's and such you should be OK
Buy it as cheap as yolu can so you do not feel bad when it give up the
ghost in 6 months or a year

In that case, a DJ mixer is probably the right choice for you. Gemini
is cheap and functional, Rane is top-of-the-line and will last a
lifetime. For what you want to do, you probably really want a DJ mixer
with a cross-fader rather than a more conventioal audio mixer. Go for
it.

One thing that you should check is to be sure that the inputs to the
mixer aren't exclusively for phono cartridges. Those are low level and
have RIAA equalization. You want line level unequalized inputs for
your sound cards.

I've never heard of Reloop, but then I don't follow DJ technology at
all. The way to tell if you can trust a dealer is to ask him to
compare his recommendation with the mixer that you've studied and have
come in to buy. If he can show you features side-by-side and explain
why he has his preference (and it makes sense to you) then he's
probably worth trusting. If he can't, but just insists that another
brand is better then he's just after more profit.

Probably a DJ newsgroup would be where you'll find more people with
experience with this sort of hardware.

Gemini offers a three year warranty to the original purchaser from the
initial date of purchase.
