Stuck in Half Life 2. Help!

Hi all,

Im stuck on a particular level in Half life 2. I dont remember the
precise level name. Basically, this is when I need to take out the
three generators (near the end of the game).

I took out the first two, but am having trouble getting the third. I
enter a room with a bunch of lasers. The door closes behind me, and
barney and his friends stay outside. It has a bunch of pipes, and
laser activated guns in the ceilings.

I see a button at the other end of the room, but I just cant press it!
I had to play in god mode, because I kept trying to press it, and
nothing happens, and I ended up dying.

The button is red, so am I supposed to do something before that button
becomes active?

Any help is appreciated!

Did you ever reach the switch without cheating? There is a way through the
room without tripping the lasers and the guns. Get off the ground and work
you're way around. You probably miss some form of trigger doing it in GOD
mode and that's why the switch doesnt work..

You climb around the room to the far side going from block to block staying
off the floor.
It isnt that difficult and when you get to the far side switch off the rooms
defences. Use the
gravgun to pick up and reset the mines to form a defence behind you. Once
the last generator
has been switched off they'll attack you.

The most recent posted actually pointed out the fact that if you trip
any of the lasers, the doors will close and the guns will start firing.
Now, the reason you can't continue is that if you had played the game as
Valve had intended (ie. without god mode), you'd die within a second.
The guns are deliberately overpowered to kill the player no matter what
they do, forcing the player to retry the area. You're not SUPPOSED to be
able to continue if the doors close, so don't bother trying. Instead,
get to the other side without hitting any of the lasers. It can be done.
