Hmm, I have downloaded this from 3dgamers and Fileplanet, when I try
to run the file nothing happens. Anyone else getting this?

Try getting it from the NL web site and see if that one works.

I went to some of my DF web sites, and it appears that you aren't alone:

http://www.novahq.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=25704
"...I had a problem running the 201mb demo but theres a 290mb version on
novalogics ftp that im gettin at the mo"

http://www.nova-inside.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13217&PHPSESSID=24c02a0fa1c0411f9cb2737996dc7546
"Why is the demo 201 MB from HTTP and 290MB from FTP?"

"HTTP one worked for me. Had to let it sit for a couple of minutes but
finally went through. File size 201mb"

I bought this game and very much enjoyed it. You can finish it pretty
quick, but it's fun. It's well worth the low asking price and it was great
to see some of the missions from the original Delta Force game being remade
with this engine.

The 290MB updated demo on 3dgamers works fine now. I only had a brief
play, graphically it is quite nice, but the gameplay felt rather
arcadey, especially with palm trees getting chopped down with one shot
of an M16.

What is different in DFX compared to DF BHD and JO? Is there a
worthwhile single player game?

I liked the game, but your right about the tree chopping effect. IMO the
best part about this game is getting online and playing CTF with vehicles:
motorcycles, helos, and humvees. Oh my!

I have played through the demo a couple of times and while it has a
few good points, the weapons are less realistic than Serious Sam which
put a major crimp on my enjoyment of it.

DFx has its pros and cons. IMO Novalogic could have done a lot more with
the game. They claimed that they wanted to redo DF1 with update engine;
however, while they added some limited new features, they kept some old
stuff. At first glance, DFx seems similar to BHD/JO.

Cons:
Very limited number of weapons. Sure DF1 only had a few, but it wouldn't
have killed them to add more. No Javelin and no Stingers.
Very limited number of vehicles. Humvee, LittleBird, enemy helo, and
motorcycle.
Weapons will "auto" adj for range to target. DF1 didn't have this.
Same old A/I. If it has been improved, it doesn't show.
Still no teammate commands in single player.
No soldier classes like those found in JO/BHD. I keep wanting to hit the
"Medic" heal me key.

Pros:
Revisit old DF1 missions with updated graphics.
Price. It list for $20 (US), but can be found on sale.
Online play now includes CTF with vehicles. Watch flag nappers race across
the map on motorcycles. ;-)
While there's only 20 single player missions, there's a mission editor
included with the game. DF web sites already have missions to d/l.
The game supports modders. Some are already working on weapon updates.

IMO if Novalogic had redone DF1 and included "all" the JO weapons &
vehicles, along with online soldier classes, plus CTF, then this would have
been a great game.

You can find a DFx single and multiplayer demo at NL web site.

Hi,

I realize it's just a demo right now, but are they doing anything to fix
the rampant cheating common on all previous NovaLogic DF Multiplayer
games? I currently look at all DeltaForce releases as single-player
only, which means it better:

a.) Have a lot to offer in Single Player, and,

b.) Sell for half price of a leading title, because the Multiplayer mode
is useless with all those Script Kiddies out there.

I'm hoping SOMEONE (Hello Novalogic) will come up with something better
than Punk Buster, which periodically denies me the ability to play CoD
online because either :

a.) their latest update has a h/w conflict AGAIN, or,

b.) it doesn't like two properly licensed players coming from the same
IP (i.e., just about anyone running NAS behind a firewall/router, which
describes most of all broadband/T1 users nowadays).

I also hate the constant scrolling "latest version" bug on some servers.
Yes, I blame PB not the server admins for this problem. There is NO
reason to annoy every single user constantly with this error log, the
server Admin knowing is enough.

I'd rant some more, but two lists in one post is enough.

Ken.
