I have an issue where USB traffic affects my PCI sound output. I have a cable modem plugged into my mobo's onboard USB port, and when I do heavy transfers over the internet while listening to MP3s, the sound starts to crackle.
I have a good PCI sound card, and it is in my 2nd PCI slot which has a dedicated IRQ. I have an ASUS TUSL2-C with an Intel chipset. Latest drivers are installed. I am running WinXP.
I seem to remember hearing this is a problem with WinXP's USB drivers. Any ideas?
Also, will I have similar problems if I buy a firewire external hdd and pci card? What about USB2?
