I try unchecking the read only attribute for my fallout 3 saved games folder but as soon as I oen it again, the folder is set to read only. I tried forcing it using the attrib-r command in the cmd prompt, but it didn't work. Any ideas as to why I can't change this attribute?

Solution
Windows 7 will always show all files and folders as being read only changing it will be reversed the next time you view the attribute. This is normal behaviour.

What do you mean by set? Do you see a check in the box beside Read-Only? Or is the box filled out? If the latter, you can still write to the folder, so no need to worry.

If the former, you can try copying the files to another location, deleting the folder, recreating it, then copying back the files.

The box is filled in. I uncheck the box, close it, and when I reopen it the box is filled in again. Specifically I'm referring to the save game folder for Fallout 3. I'm trying to figure out if this is contributing to the game crashing.
