I bought a LiteOn 40x12x48x drive a month ago and bough "quality" CDrs to go with it. However, out of 10 burns only 2 have come back without errors. I'm guessing it's the media's fault not the drive. The brand I bought was KingPro (Grade A, gold). The one CDr that came with the drive burned perfectly (I haven't used the CD-wr disc yet).

So, my question to the masses, which CDr media do you use in your Lite On drive? Is there a compatibility chart somewhere that lists this info?

Of the brands listed, what grade (color) do you find works best? Any idea what the official brand is of the CDr&CDwr discs that ship with the LiteOn drives? CD-r Diagnostics identifies the CDr as being manufactured by Prodisc Technology Inc (type: gold).

I use "Durabrand" in spindles of 100. They average out to $.32/cdr. Gold bottom, 24x.

I can only find them at Wally World. No one else comez close to that price and quality.

I can overburn to 82:06, but I never go over 82. Back when I was buying memorex 16 golds, I could overburn to 82:45. They changed the process, so I changed brands...

C@lling it like I c it...

I'm using just no-name CD's :-) 5CD for 1$, but my Lite-On is burning them all good.

If you want your CD-Rs to last longer than you and your children's lives, then get gold or black colors. Or if you plan on burning high quality audio, gold may be best.
Otherwise, the cheaper (colored) ones will be just as good (from my experience, at least).
