Posted this before but people ignored it due to my Subject line I think.

My CD-RW has just started producing problems. I download alot of AVI files and write them to CD. This was working fine, but with my last batch they all appeared to write ok, no problems. The files appear ok when viewing the CD in explorer, but when I try to play the AVI's the disk spins for ages and the Windows media tells me the correct filters can not be found. This is wierd because the same AVI's can be viewed perfectly from the HD. I can only assume that it is in the writing process, as when I tested older AVI's I have written they work fine.

I use Nero, I reinstalled this to see if it was a software problem but same problem. Also tried CD-Mate with the same results.

I just want to get some opinions before I rush out and but another CD-RW.

Your CDRW could be dying on you, but you may have a memory problem, I just went through a similar experience and it ended up being the RAM. In the Utilities section at http://www.bootdisk.com you can download a memory testing software program and check your RAM out.
