then why are there so few motherboards that use RDR ??

also, if you equate prices in (i know the 1st post said cost aside) its cheeper to get 1gig of DDR SDRAM PC266 then 512 RDR, so would it be better to go with the 1gig then 512?

Q. Will you use 1GB of RAM?

I thought cash was no object. You asked a very simple question, and based on that question I gave my answer. If you want to draw a discussion, ask better questions.

PC2700 RAM will be pretty good against RDRAM on a 533MHz system. PC2100 won't come near it. You're trying to equate memory quantity to memory speed. If you want fast RAM go for PC2700 or RDRAM. If you want lots of RAM at little cost, go for PC2100.

since it's introduction, intel kinda fubar with the PR-public relations (not to be confused with the amd PR). the entire industry was begging for ddr at the time and no one wanted rdram. rambus tried as they may have made alot of changes and the prices are alot more reasonable, but word has it intel is looking at ddr in the future and rdram has been pushed to the background... of course intel could change it's mind too.

cauz RDRAM, specially the PC1066 stuff, is very expensive, and so are the motherboards.
DDR is much more common and diverse. it is the "standard" nowerdays.

1066MHz RDRAM is the fastest out on the market(I haven't seen any benches for PC3500 DDR yet though). My friend who has a AMD 2100+ and 512MB of PC2700 got beat by me on the memory part of PCmark by nearly 2000 marks
