I've played some of the demo and despite the fact it is a very console
style platformer there is enough imagination in the visuals and settings
to make me want to try the full thing, if you like the smell of Tim
Burton you'll appreciate this.

There appears to be some very endering characters and yes, they did make
me laugh...one little guy in particular who has to wear a little foil
hat to keep his powers under control is fantastic.

You will need a pad though.

If you like platformers, I'm sure you'll love it. If you don't, you may not.
I didn't care for it and quit a little more than a third of the way through.

Jamie_Manic's post sums it up well, although I would add that I played it
through with keyboard and mouse and had no problems (although I'm sure that
a gamepad would indeed be better if you've got one). The 1.02 update
specifically adds options to make keyboard/mouse control easier.

There is a review in PCGamer this month. They were disappointed in the
first half-hour but found the other 20-odd hours 'mindblowing'. Gave it a
score of 89% - said it would have been higher but there are a few annoying
bugs. Not my type of game normally but the review did make it sound very
tempting.

I would say that the first part of the game where you train to be a
psychonaut can be a bit dull, but it's necessary to build up the skills
you're going to need later in the game.

Once you get past this part, the game is fantastically inventive and fun.

Unfortunately, the last level is disappointing and brutally frustrating.
Also, I experienced frequent sound stuttering in the cut scenes throughout
the game. In spite of this, Psychonauts was extremely entertaining.

20 hours ?

I played for around 3 hours and I'm already passed the dance
party, according to a walkthrough, I'm already almost halfgame :|

I don't know what walkthrough you're looking at but you're FAR from half way
(probably closer to 10%). The game hasn't even started yet - you're still in
the training phase.

I guess that they are actually playing the game - not following a
walkthrough.... you think?

Before being condescending, you could maybe explain me
how checking a walkthrough and following a walkthrough are
the same thing ?

I also would like to thank you very much to tell me I wasn't
playing the game. This was a great revelation
to me. I'll try to give more attention to that now.

I quite liked it too. The demo makes it appear to be a very basic
platformer, albeit one with very original graphics. They remind me of a
style used in a few recent French music videos (my memory fails me yet
again).

According to PC Gamer UK, the game gets far more involved after about
an hour, once your character has a mix of psychic powers and you have
to choose wisely.

Yup, for sure. Unfortunately, my play.com PSX->USB adaptor doesn't
adapt the right analogue joystick (used for camera control) correctly
(could be a driver problem.)
