Hi, I have a request for some really basic, simple information that by rights I should know already--but don't.
Can anyone point me to a good reference on disk partitions and the advantages and disadvantages of using multiple versus single disk partitions? Thanks.

A quick <A HREF="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=hard+disk++partition&spell=1" target="_new">Google search</A> produced some results, including <A HREF="http://oakroadsystems.com/tech/hd-partn.htm" target="_new">this</A> article. It gives a lot of good reasons for setting up multiple partitions.

Regardless, if you're using only one OS (particularly Win9x), I'd recommend putting everything in a single partition. Adding new drives later on, or getting a new drive and copying everything from your old one to a new one remains a relatively easy exercise. Some threads in this forum have mentioned a stupid 32GB FAT32 limitation in Windows XP, though. You'll want to take that into consideration if you've got an XP upgrade coming.
