Hi! I would like to know if anyone can recommend me a sound card for my computer system please. I have 1.8 GHz, Geforce 4 64 MB with TV out, 512 MB RAM, and Windows 2000 OS. I am looking for very high end sound card; I have a panasonic home theater system (5 speakers + subwoofer w/ 400 W total output) and would like to utilize all my systems. I would be using the sound card for games + watching movies (divx). The price range I am looking for is under $150. Thank you.

Well if you dont need the breakout box, then you could just go with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz to achieve the same sound quality.

as i've heard th hecules sound card is like Turtle Beach Santa Cruz(uses the same chip).

IMO the creative labs audigy is better than Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. although i didn't have either of these cards but i've read different articles about them. it seems that Audigy provides much better features:

higher quality sound/noise >100db(officialy) >93(really)
fast proccessing
gold connector
SB1394
advance EAX!!!! (i don't know what this mean but it should be higher EAX2.0 )

you can obtain Audigy for US$60(OEM) and more in http://www.pricewatch.com

note: just get Audigy if you don't have a VIA based mobo. there are usualy conflicts between VIA chipsets and Creative sound cards. so keep this in mind.

good luck.

How can you have opinions on souncards you've never tried? LOL! I think haggis is delicious. I've never tried it before, but people said it is great!

If these articles are online please post links. Creative probably supports these sites with advertising.
