I'm looking to buy a Western Digital 80GB Special Edition w/ 8MB Cache. Should I get OEM or Retail?

1. The cheapest :-) Whats actually the difference? ASAIK theres no difference to the drive and thats what matters.
2. the guarantee conditions are probably better with the retail version.
3. go oem...same drive, same warranty; just no screws, manual, etc.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...tweak it.
4. The warranty is not always the same, some discount venders sell grey market drives that come from excess stocks of large OEM system builders, and such drives are not warranteed by Western Digital to the end user.

You're posting in a forum with class. It may be third class, but it's still class!
5. yup thats absolutly right. I guess i wasn't clear...I meant you CAN get the same warranty off a reputable site like http://www.newegg.com.
