Man if someone has a need for a killer 2" analog machine, this would be a great
deal.

is the mkIII worth significantly more than the mk I's and II's? i'm
consistently seeing them around $4k -- note, i'm not saying it's not
worth it -- just curious, as i'm looking at picking one up within a
year. . .

I think you also need to look at it from the low hours standpoint and that it
is in incredible shape.

Plus you are buying from someone trustworthy, and well known to the
group. That's worth a lot.

The Mk II fixed a bunch of dumb mistakes on the original version
(though I really can't remember what) so to most people who actually
want to use a 2" Otari, the original version is rather undesirable.
I'm not sure what they changed with the Mk III but still, $6500 for a
$35,000 recorder seems like a pretty good deal to me - but only if you
want one.

Who know what the market will be like in a year? Maybe the prices will
drop again, maybe they've about stabilized, or maybe there just won't
be any more for sale.
