Please help

I bought a router and the brand is belkin but i live in bellerbys college and i bought the internet from there and i get an ethernet cable connection from the room wall(socket).
It works when i connect the cable to my laptop but when i connect it to anything else like my router or my xbox360 i cant connect cause the internet wont transfer but it does transfer when i connect it to my laptop but nothing else please help.

Contact your colleges IT department, it may be set so that only your laptop works (MAC address lock), no other devices.

The router is made to be used when connected directly to a modem, the cable you get from the wall is already connected to a router, so you have a router connected to another router which does not work unless you do some changes to your router. You can get a regular switch and try that, but check with the school if that is allowed. If not, they may have ways of tracking it and asking you to remove it.
