Got myself some of them Samsung 40ns pc800 (2X256) and a Gigabye 8ihxp. Ready to overclock the pc800 to pc1066, but not sure how to do it. Do I only need to adjust the speed to pc1066 in the RDRAM Bus Frequency menu in the Bios? And is it relatively safe to overclock the pc800 and attain pc1066 without causing instablity and damage to hardeware?

Well instability will force you to lower it back down a little.....It's perfectly ok to OC otherwise. To OC the memory, usually you just raise the FSB of the processor. Im not familiar w/ your motherboards BIOS settings, so not completely sure, sorry.

This sig runs too hot.

The Bios has an option that let's me manually select to run the ram at either pc800 or pc1066. I am not sure if that's the only thing I need to do. Can anyone with 8IHXP and pc800 that has done the overclock before help me out?

I need some help too...

I had a Dell GX200 PC with 512 mb ram PC800 is there any way to overclok the speed with this type of Bios, do i need to implement some cooling system to the ram?

What CPU are you using? I did a search on the GX200 and it showed that that particular model is equipped with p3's. Unlike p4's, having pc800 for p3 is already overkill. Why would you need to OC it to pc1066?

p3's doesn't need the amount of bandwidth that p4's need. Its bandwidth can be satisfied by regular pc133 ram. So having pc800 is already more than enough for your p3.

Actually, i820/PC800 was UNDERKILL, due to very high latency it actually underperformed the i815/PC133 solution. At least it operated in single sticks on the P3.

The original topic got side tracked. Anyways, can anyone show me how to overclock pc800 to pc1066 on my gigabyte 8ihxp?

Set it to that speed in BIOS. If it works, your good to go. If not, you can try raising the "VDIMM" setting (which should have been called "VRIMM") in BIOS.

The force of 1066 on that mobo is to set the FSB to 133.33 and then select 1066 memory...that will make it 533/1066...
