I just got 2 120mm fans and wanted to power it using an external supply.
So I got my dust covered Pentium 133 box and riped out the power supply.
But the thing just won't power up without connecting it to a MB.
How do i power it up without connecting it to a MB?
I've heard shorting some wires will do the trick, but this is a brandless power supply with no spec sheet...

Thanks.

Sometimes the two wires you jump together are thinner than the rest.

If your sure it is an ATX supply, short pin 14 to pin 15. If it's plugged in and (if it has one) the power switch is on, pin 9 will have 5 volts on it and can be used as a reference when counting pins. Some ATX PSU's will still not turn on if they do not see a load on all the outputs.
I suggest you get a cheapo power supply like the ones used for charging wireless telephones and other stuff. Make sure the voltage is OK for fan.
