Yeah it does seem like there are only three of us eh? Well maybe with
you that makes 4 .

Let me get a hold of my manual, but I can tell you that the console
mode is the most important thing to check, it sounds like maybe you
are not in the correct console mode.

Don't bother using the internal sequencer, it's pretty hard to setup I
just use the computer since it's usually going anyway (I use Sonar and
an Midisport 8x8USB).

One neat trick for the heads of tunes is to put your sequencer in step
record mode, to 64th notes or 32 notes.

Then cut on only the channels you want to have at the head of the
tune, then take the sequencer out of step record mode.

This will stack all your mutes up in order as note events and saves
you having to write then all at once.

Alternatively you can select programs from the front panel and those
will get recorded but then you can't edit the times of the individual
mutes that way.

If it is anything like the automation on the Saber then you need to make
sure that your sequencer records Note Off messages properly. I remember
that I had to stop using my old version of Cakewalk because it didn't
send Note Off messages - only Note On with a velocity of zero.
