Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been asked before or I am in the wrong area but I need to get a Packard Bell Imedia S3720 to use wake up on Lan and I would appreciate help in getting started.

The iMedia uses Windows 7 Home
The PC is seen on the network
I cannot see WOL in the bios
Packard bell techies want premium support $$ to just run through what to do.

Any 'how to configure' advice welcome!

Thanks

Pierre

What type of network adapter are you using?
Connection icon in the task bar
network and sharing centre
click the highlight connection name
click details
copy the description

You must first enable WOL in the bios. WOL is in the Packard bios power settings and is called Power on by PCIE devices, it is set to disabled by default.

Then you should be able to set it to on in the windows networking control panel -- change adapter settings, right click on the LAN adapter select properties, hit the configure button and select the power management tab.

The BIOS setting you mension is part of the "resume after power-fail" options.
And yes "resume by PCI" with a magic packet works after a power failure, but that's not real WOL.
It's doen't work after a shutdown. WOL is supported by the PB imedia networkadapter, not by the BIOS.
