I have a cable modem/router provided by my ISP at 192.168.1.1 with dhcp and port forwarding enabled. It is connected to an Actiontec Wireless Router at 192.168.1.2 and I can open both routers from my browser using their addresses, and my non static devices are assigned addresses correctly. My PC is static 192.168.1.10 with gateway 192.168.1.1 and I can switch between wired and wireless as required and everything works fine.
I now need to replace the Actiontec Wireless Router, so I purchased a Belkin 150N Wireless router, installed in place of the Actiontec and set its LAN IP address to 192.168.1.2.
I assumed it would work the same as the Actiontec and I set it up with similar options but now I cannot ping or open the cable modem router at 192.168.1.1; I had to change my PC gateway to 192.168.1.2 to get internet access; and I had to enable dhcp on the belkin to get addresses assigned to my non static devices.
Is there a way to get the Belkin see the cable modem at 192.168.1.1 and work as the Actiontec did, or do I need to buy a different router
