I'm not sure if this is the ideal place to ask this, but here goes:
I have a Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-770 drum machine that I use to come up with ideas
for drum beats and percussion rhythms for my demo tracks.
It is a good machine and works flawlessly, but one side of the machine
gets VERY hot while I'm using it--and this is only after about half an hour or
so. It doesn't get so hot that I can't put my hand on it, but if I were to
keep my hand on that part of the drum machine, it would definitely be
uncomfortable.
I should point out that the Boss power supply for it is bigger than the usual
"wall wart." The power supply, which IS the corret one for this unit, seems to
be a heavier duty model than the usual wall wart kind. (Could the power supply
be at fault?) THE POWER SUPPLY IS AN EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY--IT IS NOT INSIDE
THE DRUM MACHINE. THE POWER SUPPLY DOES GET A LITTLE WARM, BUT THE DRUM
MACHINE GETS *MUCH* WARMER.
My question is this: Is it normal for the Boss drum machines to get so warm
during use?
I have a DR770 that does not get hot or even warm. Go here and get in
contact with customer support. http://www.rolandus.com/support/ Good luck.

it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your
mouth and remove all doubt....
I found the user comments over at harmony-central.com, and many folks have
mentioned how warm their DR-770 gets.
I guess you were one of the lucky ones!
At any rate, now that I know that my DR-770 doesn't seem to be out of the
ordinary, I can relax a bit and not worry so much about the darn thing blowing
up on me! :-)
