Someone in these newsgroups mentioned they had a room in their house
filled with shelves of videogame boxes upon videogames boxes. Who was
it? Do you happen to have pictures uploaded of this collection? I was
thinking about it and was curious to see pictures of it all.

That would be nice to see, whoever it was who mentioned it. FWIW, a few
years ago, I had quite a number of empty PC game boxes from over the years,
but was eventually forced to give many of them away. I realized, even at
the time, that they would be collector's items at some point, but I had way
too much stuff piled up. At the time too, the problem was compounded when
my Mom passed away and a lot of her possessions ended up in my hands. I've
never been in a position to put my empty game boxes on shelves but admit
that it would be a neat idea for someone with room to spare.

I used to have all my boxes for every PC game I bought, but it was where it
took up an entire, very large closet just to hold all of the boxes.
Eventually I decided to only keep boxes for games that were somehow special
to me. Now I probably only have maybe a hundred boxed games, most of them I
toss the box. Althought lately with the small box games I've been keeping
more game boxes than I would otherwise since they're easier to store.

A good way to conserve space is to collapse them flat...easier with the
newer games, since they are basically a covering for a box-shaped piece of
cardboard inside.

They shot a guy in a London Tube station this morning because he
collapsed a game box.

Do you have any idea what a "week full of terrible bad news" is? Or
what a criminal act is?

IIRC it wasn't anyone posting here, but it was from someone else's

That's why all my future game purchases will be through Steam or other
digital delivery mechanism. I would not want to do something that you
would consider CRIMINAL.

O noes, someone think of the boxes!

With the newer boxes, this may be the way to go.

Saw a picture within the last few months of a gamers room with every inch of
every wall filled - majority were of console games though. The one below is
not the one I saw but belongs to a serious gamer nonetheless

I'm hoping the rest of the post was a sprat to catch an SK mackerel. If the
game is held by the box (Painkiller for eg) then I still have it. If the
box is incidental then it was probably thrown away almost immediately

Looks pretty cool. He must have spent quite a bit of time
planning it all. Personally I simply cannot see the need for THAT
many classic games. There wouldn't be enough time in anyones life
to play them.

Assuming that I take what you wrote literally, and it was not
generated while your foot was in your mouth, you must be
going to play very few high-quality PC games in the next
year or two. We shall miss you in this newsgroup..

Not so much foot in mouth as tongue in cheek.

Yeah but I like to look at them on the shelf. I don't collect them to sit
in some box somewhere, I collect them to see and remember fondly on the
games I've enjoyed. That's why I didn't really feel bad about getting rid
of the ones that were stashed away in my closet, because I wasn't really
looking at them anyway. Now I've got most of the ones I've kept on a shelf
above my computer, and a few on top of dressers and bookshelves in other
rooms.

Kind of messy and chaotic looking, but a very impressive collection
nonetheless.

Oh my gosh. That's very impressive but the game console wall seems a
bit much. Ha. That's just me though. I like to keep my items few and
simple so I don't have to worry about them. But I do enjoy the art on
the boxes for some PC games so I'll just have to live vicariously
through others' collections. <g>
