Can I get some help?

My modem and router is located at our second floor and it seems that the signal of the wifi connection doesnt reach the first floor. So I was thinking of a way to extend the reach of my connection through the use of a wifi extender. Is there any other alternative I could do to make the wifi connection reach the 1st floor? I was told I could use another router as an access point but I dont have any idea how to do that. >_< It would really help me if someone could enlighten me on these things. :D

  1. If you use another router as an access point you would need to place that router on the second floor and run a cable to it. Otherwise you could buy a wireless repeater and place it in a position where it can extend the signal from the router to the second floor, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005LS6NNO/?tag=hyprod-20&hvadid=19399867776&hvpos=1o2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=823437240531840922&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&ref=asc_df_B005LS6NNO
  2. I have Linksys WRT120N. I live in the philippines and was wondering what kind of range extenders are compatible with my router. :D
  3. Any 802.11n range extender would work, such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/Hawking-HWREN1-Hi-Gain-Wireless-300N-Extender/dp/B001DMEYCY

I tend to favor the Hawking range extenders just because of their relative low price.
  4. I just checked on some of the shops around here and i found out that those range extenders are not sold here in the philippines. are there any other alternatives that has a good balance of performance and costs?

Take a look at the Cisco Linksys RE1000.
