Hmm, if you go get Apple's standard Quicktime, you should be fine. However, always go into the options afterwards, in Control Panel, under Quicktime, and make sure it only associates to Apple extensions and the .MOV one. To me Quicktime has not caused any problems so far, I don't spot any spyware from it and such. It's the player of choice for the College program anyways. (since we got MACs)

I downloaded version 6.0#### I did a custom install so it did not take over any other software in my system then I went into the Registry all the way down to the run folder and deleted the Quick Time load option with Windows.
That biotch can only start if I open it.
I loved the Short video clip laughed my nuts off!! The wife watched it with me and got all jealous so she had to flash me her camel toe.
Funny thing is I kept thinking heavily about having a McDonalds hamburger and fries ??????? Must be the psychological advertising McDonalds does.

It's not Quick Time it's a Good Time They realy changed the program around so it does not rape your computer. I recommend it now on a custom install. I still had to Registry bang it but I love to bang things!!

Yeah QT is better now. Still think they should improve it and make it more flexible though. It's got very nice compression technology, video and sound integrity is mostly maintained. (check their High quality movie trailers on Apple's QuickTime site)
My term project in Digital Visual Elements Treatment was to make a Quicktime skin. It's pretty nice, but with QT it's oh-so-limited. Since QT is not made to hold skins, it's actually only doable when attached to a video and properly configured with QuickTime Pro. Also we didn't go into making buttons work either, so all we had was a skin and you need to use the Space bar to Play/Pause and right-click for options. I think the skin only works on MACs too, didn't wanna run here.
It does bother me everytime I start the program, it loads back the QTTASK process in the background and re-enables it back in MSConfig too. I don't think it runs QT on startup (it doesn't look like a startup process) but it prolly creates a process that goes to update the program in the background or something. This is also the annoyance with Real Player, it re-enables REALSCHED everytime I load Real Player even when I disable that.

I use Kazaa Lite ++ (K++), and it has served me well. I am quite aware that EXEs should NEVER be downloaded from Kazaa (did a mistake once and learned from it), however I've always downloaded songs off it and never had problems. K++ is spyware free anyways, and works like a charm.
