Why wont things download on my computer

Hello,
I am having problems with my new computer. Every time I try to download something (the latest thing was Adobe Reader) I get to where it says run, I run. Then it stats a security scan. After that nothing happens. It's like I didn't even start the 'run.' I have a new HP computer with windows 8

with windows 8 with the new security settings you have to sometime run downloads after there on your pc to run at admin.

I can't even find adobe reader on my download list. It's that where it should be?
