I need help: mad case

My case is a minitower, or something like that, and one side can be removed, that side doesn't fully closes, it leaves an open side, it's as if a screw was missing, but it's not. The problem is that sometimes my PC makes a sound like something short circuiting and when I press the bad side of the case, it stops. Is this serious? What can I do?
