xp is REALLY bad for this, I've had the same prob at home, moved a hdd from one box to another, basically just to see what it would run like on kids pc, got a STOP error, couldnt get anywhere, tried going through recovery console but no joy.
If they squeeze olives to get olive oil, how do they get baby oil?
It won't work with XP because it will freak out with all the new hardware, you will have to install it for each hardware setup unless they are the same.
So it happens to everyone, not just me. Interesting... why did Micro$oft make XP behave like that? It's so annoying!!!
Clean install is the only way I guess if hard disk is moved to a different box?
