I've seen these a million times but I can't seem to find one. I need an
extension to a mic stand that allows you to attach two mic clips for
coincident and near-coincident recording. Does anyone know where to find
this on the web?

Thanks,

Neil R

American Musical Supply has them in their paper catalog. Haven't checked

Their catalog # is ULT 23510B (makes me think it's probably made by
Ultimate. Price is $16.95.
If you need to call them - 800-458-4076

Full Compas also has them in the paper catalog, & I also haven't checked
their website.

Markertek Video Supply has stereo bars from AKG and Shure, and probably a
few more. I bet they have a web site.

If the Atlas ones are what I remember -- right now I'm too lazy to run and
check -- you don't want them. It's a thin bar with a tapped hole in the
middle and knobs on either end, not adjustable. The hole in the middle takes
up enough of the bar that the metal on either side is real thin, and one
good shove and it's bye-bye. The AKG is nice. There's also a big heavy one
from Shure that's good in fights.

Peace,
Paul

FC doesn't have a picture in their catalog, but the sales guys are pretty
knowledgable & can usually give you product details if you ask. The
quality of Atlas stuff CAN be kind of spotty.

Hard to go wrong with AKG/KM for stands & accessories.

Get an American to European stand thread adaptor & a European to American
adaptor (Location Sound in Studio City on Riverside has them,) screw them
together & you get an inch or so of extension so the capsules can cross each
other. This IS the sort of extension you meant, right?

Oh, just a regular stereo bar? Project One on Burbank, just west of Cahuenga,
has the AKG stereo bar.

The eBay ads seem to be well-enough written. I don't think you can beat the
price.

The URLs below all came from a quick search for "stereo bar" on Yahoo.
I'm sure there are many more out there.

I have one made by AKG. As I recall, it cost me about $12, but this
was decades ago. You can attach a single mike clip to the top of the
stand without removing the mike bar. You can also mount the mike
above or below the bar.

I've seen dual drum mic mounts from both Latin Percussion and Onstage
Stands. Would either work for cooincident pair recording?

Get some drum hardware clamps and 4" mic extension tubes. Compleyely solid and
adjustable.
