Wireless recognizes networks but won't connect

My wireless recognizes my home networks, but bounces consistently from "acquiring network" to "automatic" and never connects me to the web. Just to test it out, I installed the Belkin WiFi USB Adapter to run it as a separate wireless, and it reacts the same way. What do I do?

are you using a secured wireless network? if so check the spelling of the pass-phrase they are case sensitive.

Yes, I have the pass phrase copied and pasted as is via WordPad. When I put it in, it recognizes, but just jumps back and forth as always, never getting me online. Always "acquiring network address".....
