Hi,

Does anybody know what kind or specific types of hard drives will work with a SUN SPARCstation 5? I only know of 2 or 3 which SUN actually uses in their systesm. All I know is that the drives are SCSI SCA, and I think 80-pin. Working mostly with IDE stuff, I'm really confused about all the differnet SCSI types and what is compatible with what.

Thanks.

I worked with a SUN SPARCstation 5 several years ago. I never opened it to see the internal hard drives, but if I remember correctly it used external hard drives made by Seagate.
I recommend you ask the tech support people at www.sun.com or www.integrix.com.
Integrix is a Sun clone, its hard drives are cheaper and work with a Sun.

i would actually try eBay believe it or not. Sellers put info on the parts they sell and basically start there. Its like a puzzle. If not Google is good :D

I think I saw a Quantum in the last one I saw open, and it was SCSI, but had a different interface than most SCSI drives I'm familiar with. Maybe it was 80-pin, although this would make little sense because they are not hot removable.
